Sofia Wickman (SE) is an artist, curator and creative producer based between Malmö and Copenhagen. She holds a BA in Audiovisual Media from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (2012), including studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
Working across photography, video, light and installation, Wickman creates atmospheric works that move between two-dimensional, sculptural and spatial forms. Through layered imagery and the use of light and colour as artistic materials, she investigates perception, presence and transformation.
Her practice is rooted in an attention to fleeting moments and the tension between permanence and transience. Light, colour, image and space shift between the physical and the intangible, allowing familiar environments and experiences to become unstable, heightened or momentarily transformed.
Wickman's work has been exhibited internationally in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, including at Eye Filmmuseum (NL), Schimmel Projects – Art Centre Dresden (DE), Udstillingsstedet Sydhavn Station (DK) and Supermarket Art Fair (SE). Her upcoming solo exhibition at Galleri Box (SE) opens in September 2026.
Since 2015, Wickman has been a member and curator at Galleri CC in Malmö. Alongside her artistic and curatorial practice, she works as a creative producer within the performing and visual arts.
